Construction Materials

Construction materials are a currency that is obtained through mining, crafting, scavenging, and trading. They are required to build everything in the game and are used to upgrade haulers.
Name | Source | Use |
---|---|---|
Scrap | Mining, Scavenging, and Crafted in Ore Refinery | Basic Objects, Walls, Floors, Wires, etc. |
Metal Framework | Crafted in Ore Refinery | Advanced Objects |
Electronics | Crafted in Programming Terminal | Electrically Related Objects |
Wood Fiber | Scavenged from Stations and Trading | Wooden Objects |
Pigments | Scavenged from Stations and Trading | Cosmetics |
Tips
- You start with little scrap and should prioritize making an ore refinery to obtain more. Every order completed by an ore refinery rewards 3-5 scrap and 3-5 metal framework (this works for tinkering too). You can also gain more scrap and metal framework by crafting it from metal in the ore refinery.
Trivia
- Construction materials were introduced in the Early Access 0.2.17 patch. Construction materials replaced the need for crystals in construction, which now are only used as a tradeable currency.
- You start with 2-3 scrap piles around your station that could have 3-5 scrap in each node. Each scrap harvested from a pile rewards 10 scrap. (This means you could start the game with 60~150 scrap).
- Scrap scavenged from a station drops Scrap (Treasure) rather than the currency, but can be used as such. (It is not confirmed if this is intentional).
- You can use "cheater" mode to obtain 100 of each construction material.
